Gedion Zelalem hope he gets his career back on track with report via nbcsports claims the USMNT midfielder has signed a deal with Major League Soccer Sporting Kansas City.
The 22-year-old tore a ligament in his left knee during the U.S. team’s opener against Ecuador at the Under-20 World Cup in May 2017.
Zelalem was born in Germany to Ethiopian parents and moved to Maryland as a youngster, has made just four appearances for the Gunners in six years due to injury problems which stalled his career.
The injury prone midfielder will now be pushed on by Peter Vermes at Sporting KC.
The club were please to announce that Zelalem has put pen to paper for the rest of the 2019 season, “with club options for 2020 and 2021.”
“Gedion is a talented player and we are excited to welcome him to the club,” Sporting KC Manager and Sporting Director Peter Vermes said.
“We look forward to his integration into the squad as the team competes in multiple competitions throughout the season.”
Zelalem enjoyed loan spell at Glasgow Rangers and VVV Venlo, while injuries impacted his development in north London and he just hasn’t quite lived up to expectations after being named as one of the most skillful youngsters to be nurtured at Arsenal’s academy.
We have no doubt about Zelalem’s talent, especially when he has the ball at his feet, but there are some question marks around his physicality and even his drive to succeed at the next level.
We at Footballfancam wish him good luck at his new club and hope he get his career back on track.
