Report via the Sun claims Arsenal will meet with the agent of Torino defender Armando Izzo over the next couple of days to discuss a potential swoop this summer.
There is no doubt the 27-year-old defender has been outstanding for the Turin-based sided since his move from Genoa last year.
His impressive performance has seen him linked with a move to several top clubs in the Premier League with report suggest Manchester United and Leicester City have shown interest in his services.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio the Gunners are preparing a £22million bid for the centre-back who has another three years to run on his contract.
Emery’s side reportedly only have a transfer budget of around £40m this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification for the 2019-20 campaign.
It is understood Unai Emery is in the market for a replacement for German defender Shkodran Mustafi who is expected to leave the club, as well as club captain Laurent Koscielny.
The Gunners conceded a total of 51 goals last year and Emery have frequently revealed that his defence will be the first place he would strengthen when during the summer.
Reports also suggest the Gunners are also in the race for St Etienne’s highly-rated teenage defender William Saliba.
