Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed that the Gunners are hoping to complete two signings before the close of the summer transfer window but could also end up with none, according to the Daily Independent.
The North London side are expected to complete a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos before Thursday and are hopeful of landing Christopher Nkunku and Ivan Perisic also.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Gunners pre-season game, Emery revealed that the club was working on deals for two players.
The Spanish manager has been desperate for a wide midfielder who can play on both flanks since his arrival prompting the pursuit of Perisic.
Emery however admitted that the transfer window had been difficult so far and there was the possibility that the club would not make any signing at all.
When asked the number of players the club could sign before deadline, he replied; “Nil or possibly two”
“Between nil and two if they aren’t coming to help us like we want, then we would prefer them to not come”
He later explained that he had been promised by the board that he will have money to spend this summer although the club is currently making efforts to strengthen the squad also with loan additions.
Emery announced earlier in January that the club would be unable to sign a player permanently as there was no money to spend, but they could bring in players on loan.
With the current £300 million Addidas deal set to come into effect this summer, it now seems clear why the Gunners are leaving all their spending for the summer.
