Two Premier League giants are set to be handed a huge blow in race to sign highly-rated South-American sensation.
Liverpool and Arsenal are likely to lose out on the battle for Brazilian wonder kid, Emerson de Souza Junior as Real Betis take the lead in the race to sign the Atletico Mineiro defender, according to TalkSPORT.
The player who currently plays at right back has been very impressive for Atletico, and is reportedly drawing interest from almost 20 clubs.
It is believed that Real Betis will most likely seal a loan deal for the 20 year old right back and incorporate him into the first team with option of buying the player in future.
The starlet, who is reportedly a target for Barcelona as well joined Atletico Mineiro in April from Ponte Preta, and represented the Brazilian national team at the 2019 South American under 20 championship where he was been described as an impressive player.
Arsenal are in need of reinforcement in the defensive area of their squad as a result of the long term injury to Hector Bellerin.
The Gunners were left short of options at right-back for several months after Bellerin suffered an ACL injury, with back-up option Stephan Lichtsteiner leaving in the summer.
Arsenal were left without any option in that position, forcing Emery to use Ainsley Maitland-Niles as a make-shift defender, who in all honesty is not a natural right-back but a midfielder.
Liverpool on the other hand intend to refresh their options after Nathaniel Clyne moved to Bournemouth and Joe Gomez expected to continue his development at center-back and not right-back in the future.
