Arsenal summer signing William Saliba has suffered yet another injury setback which could see him face a lengthy spell out, according to the Sun.
Saliba had only been back to full fitness for five weeks, having had to undergo an operation on an abductor muscle injury.
The 18-year-old was immediately shipped back to St-Etienne after completing a £27million move to Arsenal over the summer.
And manager Claude Puel has confirmed to the club’s official website that he broke his fifth metatarsal against Monaco at the weekend.
Saliba explained the reason why he is opted for a loan move back with the French outfit when speaking to Arsenal.com following his arrival.`
“Well, it was important first of all because I wanted to prove myself for another year at Saint-Etienne, before I come to try and establish myself here at Arsenal,” he said.
“This is a big club, and when you come here, you need to be ready.
“So I’m going to try and have a great season with the club that developed me in order to be ready for Arsenal.”
Saliba has started 13 times in Ligue 1, with St-Etienne winning 11 of those fixtures.
