It’s unarguable Chelsea have a new captain American in their squad as Christian Pulisic has been on sublime form in recent week which have seen fans dubbed him as the next Eden Hazard.
Following Hazard’s move to Real Madrid in the summer, Chelsea’s 64-million-euro club-record signing Pulisic was hailed as the man to fill the Belgian winger’s boots having scored five goals in Chelsea’s last three league games.
Heading into the international break it is understood USA will not call for the services of the 21-year-old for their crucial Concacaf Nations League matches, after he was hurt during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over their London rivals at the weekend.
The news was confirmed by coach Gregg Berhalter that a joint decision was taken not to playing Pulisic.
Speaking to media ahead of today’s training session, #USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter confirms that @cpulisic_10 will miss out on this month’s @CNationsLeague matches.— U.S. Soccer MNT (@USMNT) November 11, 2019
“Christian is officially at this stage ruled out. We just got that information,” he said. “This was a collaborative decision with the club – looking after the best interest of the player.”
“These decisions are always difficult because this group and the coaching staff want nothing more than to have Christian here, but it was a risk we weren’t willing to take at this time.”
We wish Pulisic a quick recovery considering he recently just found his form at Chelsea.
