Chelsea star winger Willian is reportedly wanted by European giants Barcelona and Juventus.
Willian’s future at the Stamford Bridge is in doubt despite the veteran winger being in fine form for the Blues this season.
The long serving Chelsea winger is no stranger to reports linking him with a move out of the Bridge. But Blues’ fans are particularly worried about this latest transfer rumours, and rightly so.
Asides coach Frank Lampard being very vocal about his desire to keep the Brazilian international in his team, here are a couple of reasons why the club should not even think of letting the 31-year old leave just yet.
He’s great for the dressing room
For a club like Chelsea who changes managers more than any other Premier League side in the last 10 years, Willian has remained an ever present character in the dressing room of whoever is in charge of the club as confirmed by his teammates both past and present.
He truly loves Chelsea
Many top players have come and gone – Hazard, Costa and Lukaku – to mention a few. But Willian has remained at the Stamford Bridge all these years forming great partnerships with the several strikers and attackers the club has worked with over the years. Some left us in pursuit of “dreams” elsewhere, why Willian has made playing for Chelsea his dream. After all these year of numerous “top clubs” constantly trying to sign him, it must be said that the Brazilian truly loves this club and has called it his home!
He’s a brilliant influence to the current Chelsea team
With Chelsea building a new set of young and talented squad, having a few oldies such as Willian around will certainly go a long way in positively influencing these young lads.
Willian has seen it all with the Blues and it’s up to players like him to pass on the values of the club down to the new set of budding players at the Stamford Bridge. Especially this day and age when one-man-one-club loyalty seems to be fast fading away.
He still has a few more decent footballing years left in his tank
For a 31-year old winger, Willian, without a doubt still looks as sharp as ever. His being selected regularly by boss Frank Lampard has not been entirely out of experience, but rather due to his current form. He has totally earned his place in the team.
Looking at Willian over the years, its easily imaginable to see him actively playing until his mid-30’s.
Hopefully, Chelsea keeps him away from Barcelona to achieve all these amazing benefits he can give to the club now and in the nearest future.
