New Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has publicly revealed his intention to bring in more help for his team in the January transfer window.
The January transfer window kicks open in just under 72 hours as at the time of writing this article, and Arsenal have been linked with a handful of players across various sections of the pitch.
But as we all know, the winter transfer window is a pretty tough one with many clubs unwilling to break their team structure by selling their valuable player(s) midway through the season.
Quite understandable you would say, especially if your star player is the one being targeted by other clubs.
But Arsenal did quite a bit of loan business with some senior players (as well as some gifted youngsters) in the summer, and some of them have done pretty well, and could even help strengthen the squad should we push for their return in January.
So instead of scrambling for new signings from other clubs in January, how about we take a look at some of our players who as doing well at the current loan clubs.
Shipped out to Roma at the end of August despite having a decent start to the season. Mkhitaryan has gone on to have a fine season so far with the Italian giants, scoring and providing assists from the wings in crucial games for his loan club.
Albeit a one month injury he suffered, Mkhitaryan has had a pretty decent loan spell in Rome.
In such a short period, Elneny has been shown a straight red card, banned and also shown signs of brilliance on the pitch for Besiktas. But his spell in Turkey can be categorized as underwhelming to be honest.
Since the moment Arsene Wenger signed him, Elneny has never really had it going at Arsenal and had always been on the fringes at the club.
At just 18 years old, Saliba has proven to be one of, if not the most vital player for Saint Etienne this season.
And despite undergoing surgery earlier in the season for an injury which saw him travel down to Arsenal for part of his rehabilitation, Saliba has sure made his impact in the short time that he has played for the French club this season.
So much that he has been shortlisted as Saint Etienne’s player of the year.
Among the above mentioned on loan Arsenal stars, perhaps the one that would likely give the Gunners squad a great lift should be Saliba.
Arsenal are suffering a defence crisis situation at the moment, and asides their poor form, injuries have not helped at all, with Calum Chamber and Sokratis the latest to join the already long list of injured senior defenders.
